Vacation????

Tim took off 3 days last week because he had some vacation time he had to use by the end of August or he would lose it. We had the hardest time deciding when the best time would be. Isn't it sad when you are too busy to take some time off? We couldn't afford to on a "real" vacation, so we stayed home and my parents came up for a few days. Tim and I got to enjoy a dinner without the kids! It was so nice to eat in peace. Then we got to work. If you've been to our house you have seen the cut out in our living room...we stuff toys in it.

If not, here it is. We have a toybox in it and the toys are all around.

I am moving my craft room downstairs into the office and really wanted to build a closet in there. So we said goodbye to the cutout. Dad started tearing out the wall and found much more space than we had hoped for- a fake wall! So my little closet, turned into a big one and it's not in the office, it's off the hallway!

Some pictures of the construction! Tim and my dad worked all day Thursday and Friday on this project. We found out that the electric in our house is CRAZY! Who would have thought the downstairs master bathroom would be connected to the upstairs bathroom? Seems logical don't you think? Anyway, they had to rewire a few things.

Close in the cutout.

Look at all that space!
The finished project...well almost finished. There is still some painting to do. I LOVE the color. I was nervous at such a dark color, but I love it! I'm so proud of myself for not taking the "safe" route and going with a lighter color.
The closet with shelves. I have a lot to go on this part, I have to really get in the office and get things sorted and put where I want it to be and then decide what stuff will go in the closet. Most of this stuff is the kids craft supplies. I am so happy to finally have somewhere to put them so that it is all put up and not accessible to little hands unless I want it to be!
A little side project...I painted the wall that the fireplace is on the same brown as the other wall. I think it looks so good. Now, I just have to repaint the kitchen. The yellow just doesn't look good anymore. Can you guess what color I want? Shouldn't be too hard...

I'm so thankful that Tim and my dad are so talented at building and fixing things! Thanks for all your hard work last week! I think it was a great "vacation"!
