The night the lights went out

Last night was truly an adventure. Glade, Addison and I along with Grammy and Pappy came home from Austin. We got home just in time for a huge storm. This huge storm caused our power to go out. So, I called the number to report an outage. The nice lady on the phone said they would work on it and hopefully get it back on by 9:00 pm. It was then 5:30. So, we opened the windows and the screen door, lit some candles and waited. We decided to go enjoy the power and air at On the Border for dinner. We got home and...still no power. 9:00 came and went. At 10:30 I called again, this time a not so nice lady on the phone wouldn't tell me anything. Tim and I walked to end of the street to see if they were working on it. NO THEY WEREN'T! We prepared for what looked to be a long night. We got the babies to sleep by holding them in the car so they were cool. Once asleep, we put them in their beds. Addison, poor thing, was miserable. So at 2:30, Tim went and sat with her in the Tahoe. By that time it felt like it was 100 degrees in our house with no breeze at all. Everyone in the house was awake, frustrated that TXU couldn't get it fixed. Well, everyone but Glade. That little boy slept right through it. Until we all decided to go outside and sit in the car, with the air! We got both babies back to sleep, put the seat down and laid them on their blankets just in time for the power to come back on at about 4:00! So, we went back inside and now had two very awake babies! They got a bottle and were drowsy but neither one of them wanted to go to sleep. So Grammy took Addison, Pappy took Glade and Tim and I went to bed! We slept so good once the house cooled down to a nice frigid 74 degrees! We slept good until Scarlet, our dog, started barking. Tim looked out the window to see my dad outside with the dogs. Tim thought they were out there playing...so we went back to bed. Only to get up and hear that we had a water moccasin snake! Our two dogs had cornered it. Luckily the snake was in some wire fence and couldn't really get to the dogs or my story might include a trip to the vets office. The snake at last we know slithered under our storage building.
Needless to say we are all tired and ready for a calm and relaxing evening tonight!
Here they are in the Tahoe...wide awake at 3 in the morning!
